Funerals can be one of the most stressful times for a family. Dealing with the loss of a loved one and planning their funeral, at whatever age, is a huge challenge. My role is to help support you through that sad and difficult time, and with your help create a service that honours and celebrates their life.

After the death of a loved one, your first point of contact is usually the Funeral Director who will ask if you have a celebrant in mind. If you don’t know a minister or civil celebrant, they will often make suggestions or show you a list. Remember, it is your choice.

Families often ask for me, and I am contacted by the Funeral Director to see if I am available. If I am, then from that moment my whole focus for the next 3-7 days is on that family. I’ll meet with them within a few hours, listen to their stories about the deceased, get to know the family, find out what they’d like to include in the funeral, favourite music, poems, readings. Understandably, often a grieving family need a lot of help and support, and over the next few days I’ll meet with them to make suggestions, provide resources and do my best to write a very personalised ceremony. A day out from the funeral they will approve the final service script, which means there will be no surprises on the day. As a Civil Celebrant I strive to provide a client focused, wrap around service and for me that also means a follow up contact with the family after the funeral.

If I can ever be of assistance, please contact me.
